Updates May 2013

I am so bad at this blogging thing. No matter how good my intentions may be, I ALWAYS fail. No matter, I will still keep pretending to blog...

So updates from me:

1. I signed up for the 2013 Chicago Marathon. I have a note to myself in my calendar that training should start this weekend. Ha. I have been horrible about running so far this year. There are two reasons for that fact. First, I am over cold weather. We are still getting frost in May here, and so, I have been avoiding being outside as much as possible. I also hate the "dreadmill" so there is a real problem... Next, I hate going for a run without bringing Luna along. Some days, I just don't feel like gathering her and her stuff for a run along the lake, especially when I know she will bark like a crazy at the rollerbladers.

That said, I have started seeing a trainer to work on strengh training, something I always avoid. I have high(er) hopes for my marathon this year.

What are you talking about mom, I have perfect running path manners...
2. Luna - We are doing so well! She is getting over her fear issues, and building confidence EVERY DAY. Part of the success is due to going to classes once a week. They are helpful because they help give me tools to deal with her (now) infrequent freak outs. They also show her that other people are nice and that she is good at doing a job. We have also joined a dog walking club, the Chicago Sociabulls. It is a great experiences where we get to walk with other people and dogs at all levels of reactivity. The best part, because a lot of the owners are dealing with trouble children of their own, I don't get funny looks if Luna barks!

Look at how good I focus on my momma!

3. In sad (super sad) news, we lost my childhood pup, Shadow this month. Shadow was put to sleep on May 8, 2013, with his whole family surrounding him until the very end. I miss him, and cannot truly process that the little puppy man is gone.

My mother is HEARTBROKEN. She misses him and his companionship. She does plan to get another pooch - she might just love dogs more than I do! Watching her grieve for Shaddie, as I deal with my own sadness has been exceptionally hard...

Anyway, back to work...

xoxo
